Clients / Experience
Business Analytics and Business Transformation – CFO’s Office – Big 5 Canadian Bank: As part of a regulatory requirement, the client had to demonstrate effective Risk Data Aggregation and Risk Reporting. Wellington worked to understand the regulatory requirement and the business opportunities. We built a conceptual framework, help select a tool and executed a proof of concept.
Enterprise Performance Management – Big 5 Canadian Bank – Wellington helped the client develop and implement a new enterprise performance management processes and tool to let the business to plan and manage performance, sales targets and KPI criteria for more than 14,000 front line retail staff.
Global HR Program – Large Canadian Insurance Company: After major challenges with the initial phases of this program, Wellington led the final phase of the implementation of a Global HR program that employed new process and technologies. Wellington set up a new governance structure, improved lines of accountability and authority across all stakeholders, including the business, technology and operations. Seven months after we took over the program, the client went live around the globe
Document and Image Management – Large Canadian Investment Firm: Wellington is leading a program to create a virtual back office with standardized administrative process that will let work be distributed across all areas of Client Services Operations.
Launch New Client Facing Web Site – Large Canadian Mutual Fund Firm: Wellington is helping to lead this project to launch a new client facing Web site to improve customer experience.
Operational Merger – Large North American Leasing Company: Wellington led this program to merge the operational units of two leasing firms after one of the firms bought the book of business from the other.
Organizational Change Management
At its core, effective transformation is about people. Yes, we can change systems, operations and procedures but unless your people are engaged and know how the transformation will affect them, they won’t embrace the change and your transformation will, at best, struggle and, at worst, fail. Wellington has been a champion of organizational change since its inception; it just makes good business sense.

Business Change Management and Data Governance – Big 5 Canadian Bank: As part of a regulatory requirement, the client had to deliver new regulatory reporting. The solution required new processes, workflows, data management and governance and technology. Wellington was engaged to develop and implement business change management plans and assist in development of workflow processes.
Global HR Program – Large Canadian Insurance Company: Wellington led the final phase of the implementation a new Global HR program that employed new process and technologies. We managed a global team of HR professionals and business process subject matter experts to create a working team to identify organization and HR process requirements and harmonize the clients HR business processes.
Self Service Reporting – Finance – Big 5 Canadian Bank: The client wanted to eliminate their static paper reporting and deploy a self-service reporting and dashboard service. Wellington led the overall project development and implemented the business change management plans for the entire project. There was successful uptake of new self-service reporting, which led to more innovative ways to increase use of the self-service model.

Finance Technology Roadmap – Big 5 Canadian Bank: Wellington played a key role in helping the bank develop and execute a seven-year plan to improve the services offered by the CFO’s office to internal business units. The Road Map created a high-level target state for the business, operations, technology, and data governance, as well as a strategy to move to this target state. The Road Map includes a new Information Warehouse, new BI tools, a new organization (Chief Data Officer), as well as new processes, roles and responsibilities across the enterprise.
Management and Regulatory reporting – Big 5 Canadian Bank: Wellington was engaged to help the client build a framework and select a tool for their new data aggregation and risk reporting requirements. We built the business/regulatory requirements, evaluated technical options, and selected a product. We developed a conceptual framework and executed a proof of concept that demonstrated the validity of the framework and the tool. The selected tool and methodology we developed was adopted as the enterprise standard for all regulatory reporting.
Master Data Management – Big 5 Canadian Bank: Wellington was engaged to assess current state and target architecture for master data management and hierarchy management. The goal was to move the client from a hybrid, manual solution with inconsistent data governance and data management standards to an integrated, out-of-the box solution with workflow for centralized governance and standards. The target outcome was to increase ability to report on and improve clarity of data for a broad variety of complex, management, regulatory and statutory financial, risk and treasury issues. Wellington designed a vendor assessment and proof-of-concept, vendors were invited to participate, a short list of solution providers was identified and each was given the opportunity to present a proof of concept to the client. A single vendor was identified as the clear leader and a full project was initiated.

The client’s previous enterprise P&L system relied on a mix of Excel and a legacy product that frequently crashed during peak utilization periods. Wellington led the assessment, acquisition and implementation of a new planning tool, new processes and new user interfaces. The solution was deployed to more than 300 planners in over 22 different lines of business and enabled new functionality such as business drivers, what-if scenarios and versioning of the plan.

New Investment Accounting System – Large Canadian Investment Management Firm: The client is moving off of an old outsourced accounting system, implementing a new accounting system and bringing the operations back in house. Wellington is helping the client understand the current accounting processes, modify the current accounting process to fit into the new system, merge duplicate processes into a single process, perform testing & Q/A, develop processes for the new in-house support organization and stand-in as appropriate for the CFO when their availability to help with the project is limited.

Filenet Upgrade, Major Canadian Fund Management Company: Wellington managed the upgrade of this core application, resolved post implementation performance issues and the migration to a new data centre.
Data Centre Move, Major Canadian Investment Company – To reduce cost and mitigate risk this client chose to move their data centre. Wellington led multiple phase of the project including migrating databases, multiple applications and application support.
Selection and Implementation of BI tool, Big 5 Canadian Bank: Wellington led the requirements analysis, vendor selection and implementation of this enterprise wide BI tool for a major Canadian bank.
Filenet Upgrade, Major Canadian Insurance Company: Imaging & Workflow is a strategic capability used to facilitate mission critical business processes throughout this company. To enhance this integrated set of technologies Wellington was engaged to lead a multi-faceted program to extend functionality, improve performance, enhance security and lower total cost of operation.
